Taisha-ryu kenjutsu
Inoue-san and I, Yatsushiro dojo – April 2014
Here is a short video Yamamoto-sensei made for the benefit of elementary school students living in Nishiki-machi, Hitoyoshi (the birthplace of Taisha-ryu) showing Taisha-ryu kenjutsu in action.
The demonstrations or embu shown were shot at various places including: Kashima Jingu, Yasukuni Jinja and the Nihon Budokan,
Just the two of us again.
Trained from 9:30-1:00 as we do every Sunday.
Took a few photos before we began training.
June 6, 2014. First practice in Sydney.
Members of the four study groups who travel to the Yastushiro dojo for training are able to take part in the Intensive Training sessions which run from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Here are a few shots from my first day – I was terrible. Taisha-ryu being a koryu style that was created during the Sengoku Jidai for use on 16th century battlefields is very different to anything I’d studied before in my twelve years of iaido and kenjutsu – believe me, it’s harder than it looks in these pictures.
